PROUD MOTHER BRAGGING MOMENT

As some of you know, Josh has been into movie making since he was about 12 years old.  Josh acquired his first digital camera with recording capability when he won one of those "claw" like games at a pizza place.  With that camera he spent hours concocting all sorts of short videos.  They were pretty darned good for a kid who really showed no interest in that sorta thing.  As the next few years went by Josh's love for film making grew even stronger and more imaginative.  In high school he and two buddies, Ethan & Dylan spent as many hours as possible in the filmography classes.  The three started purchasing their own equiptment and even came up with a name for their "company"...Vacuuous Studios. They are however, coming up with a new name.  The boys have entered a few contests, won some prizes and have done odd jobs here and there.  BUT! Nothing compares to this past March 16th 2014 when they entered their short film into the Sun Valley Film Festival in Idaho.  The were entered into the "Future Filmmakers" 18 and Under category and they took first place!!!!!  Ethan wrote and directed this amazing short film.  They were each given an IMbD website, honors and a glass statue.  We are all so very proud of all the hard work, diligence and imagination these 3 possess.  Watch out Hollywood!

RYKER TURNS 3

Making it to a birthday while living in Vegas was no easy task.  So many birthdays and so few ways to plan them out when so many miles separated us.  So, when we could make it to one, it was a big deal to us.  We celebrated Ryker's birthday POJO'S style in Boise.  What a great day!!

THE BABIES TURN 18!

In September and December our two youngest kiddos turned 18 years old.  I tell ya, time really and truly flies.  I mean WOW.  It always seems like such a cliche but it's not, it's for reals.  Now, as I write this (trying to play catch-up) Joshua and Kassi are nearing their 19th birthdays.  Hitting 18 is such a milestone in the life of a teen.  We spend our whole childhood, mostly teen years yearning for that big day...the day we are "legal".  This is the day we think, "no one can tell me what to do ANY. MORE."  We anticipate our last year of high school.  All kinds of things go running through our minds about what it's going to be like, how AWESOME life is going to be.  Unfortunately it only takes a month or so till we realize it's pretty much just another number and with it more responsibilites than we hoped for.  But, it's not all bad.  Being 18 is a big deal.  Oh how I wish I could be there again.

I'm so proud of how Joshua has grown into such a responsible, hard working and talented young man.  I see great things in his future and I know he will go wherever he dreams of going.  I couldn't ask for a better son, really I couldn't.  He's everything and MORE I ever dreamed.  I'm thankful the Lord has loaned him to us all these years and I pray the Lord will use Josh in a mighty way.

When Pete came into my life, Kassi was 14 years old.  She has been a blessing to my heart from day 1.  Kassi is beautiful inside and out, smart, funny and very caring.  I love spending time with her and listening to anything she wants to talk about.  I know she too will go far in life.  I pray she finds her dreams and follows them.

Oops, I did it again...

I can not believe I have let so much TIME go by since my last blog.  It's not as if I have a million things going on all at once.  GAH!  Of course, so MUCH has happened since Kelsey and Drew got married (my last blog).  So, that was in September of 2013...let me THINK and see if I can get somewhat chronological with the highlights of that date to present.  I guess December would be the best place to start after that.

For the first time in many years, Pete and I were able to spend a Christmas with itty bitty's.  Our four kids are all grown now and not that we don't enjoy spending Christmas or any other time with them for that matter, there's just something EXTRA magical about spending Christmas with innocent toddlers. Kassi, Samantha, Charlie and the babies came out to Las Vegas to celebrate Christmas with us.  I had such a fun time decorating the house, preparing yummy foods, desserts and of course, SHOPPING!!  It was such a special time that we will not soon forget.

Two are Better Than One

A Beautiful Knot has Been Tied

I had the privilege of watching my beautiful niece, Kelsey-Rae marry the love of her life, Drew Robinson this past weekend.  Kelsey and Drew met almost 5 years ago when she started attending the University of North Texas.  On September 15, 2013 they joined their lives together in holy matrimony.

Kelsey and Drew have been life long servants of Christ and love the Lord with all their hearts.  I believe Christ has a special blessing for them and I pray they will continue to serve, love and honor Christ through their vows and love for each other.

It was so much fun to see family I hadn't seen for many years and even family I have seen a lot of in recent years as well.  We laughed and cried and just had a great time.  What a blessing is was!!

Congratulations Kelsey and Drew!

Birthday Surprise

Surprise Chico!!

This year I wanted to do something super special for my chico's birthday.  My hubby is always doing such nice and wonderful things for me and I wanted to show my appreciation in a big way.  For the past 4 years Pete has talked about wanting to go to an Oakland A's game in Oakland, CA.  We've seen them play against the Texas Rangers but that was in Texas.  Sooooo.....

With a whole lotta sneaky, careful plotting I made it happen.  I made all the arrangements, some with a little help from friends and family and it was off to Oakland, CA on his birthday.  Boy, was he surprised!!

Gameday was on Saturday, Aug 3.  Happily, the A's won that game against...yes, unfortunately they were playing the Rangers again ( I was hoping for any other team, only because we'd already seen them play together).  The weather was beautiful and the seats were great.

Not only did we get to watch the baseball game, we did some sightseeing all around San Francisco.  What an amazing city.  I'd passed through there before but never experienced it quite like this before.  I fell in love with that City by the Bay.

On our drive back to Vegas we decided to take the long drive along Hwy 101.  It added a few more hours but it was well worth it.  What a great weekend we had, I'll never forget it.

MY BOY AND HIS CAMERA

I want to take up a great big spot to post some of the best photography I've seen.  Okay, I may be biased because the talent behind the camera is my boy, Joshua.  But I know you will agree that my boy has talent and eye for capturing a great picture.  He takes an everyday mundane object or scenery and highlights it's beauty.  Enjoy!!
